JENNIFER McCABE
Screen Acting and Character Instructor
Twenty years of acting, singing, dancing, improvising and teaching has allowed Jennifer the opportunity to work with many exciting and talented actors in the industry. Her past and present teachers include- Technique: David Gideon, Sam Schacht, Gary Swanson, John Strasberg Estelle Parsons, Ted Sluberski, Susan Batson, Arthur Penn, Ellen Burstyn, Vivian Nathan, Doug Moston, Stuart Vaughan, Jack Gelber; Voice and Speech: Dr. William Riley, Linda Carroll, Nova Thomas, Phil Hall, Abbe Harkavay; Dance and Movement: Alvin Ailey Dance Company, The Alexander Institute, Jivamukti Yoga Center.
Jennifer holds a BA in speech communications, anthropology and theater and an MFA in theater and acting and teaches group classes, private coaching and arts-in-education. Her teaching has developed into an approach based on principles drawn from Constantin Stanislavski, Richard Boleslavsky, Eugene Vakhtangov, Lee Strasberg, Uta Hagen, Stella Adler, Sanford Meisner, Eric Morris, Viola Spolin and Keith Johnstone.
Her technique classes are designed to release hidden tensions-mental, physical and emotional, then connect to the circumstances of the character and finally-to trust. It’s simple, yet extremely powerful. ‘There is an incredible freedom that takes place when the student allows this process to happen.’
As an actress, Jennifer has originated five Off-Broadway roles and has been seen in many films. Jen can also be seen on Law and Order: SVU and as Aldonza in Man of La Mancha. She is also working on two documentary film projects
